3. Instructions:
1. Prepare boiling water, then place it and wait for cooling.
2. Open the cover of the gas collecting tube, fill with cold boiled water, the tensiometer stands upright for 10-40 minutes (do not turn off the red switch), and see the water dripping from the surface of the white head.
3. Choose a cup, add soil and water together, and stir to make mud.
4. Dig a hole, choose a tool over 22mm, dig vertically to enough depth.
5. Pour the stirred mud in the hole, then insert the tensiometer vertically to make sure the white head closely contact with the soil.
6. After the tensiometer have inserted for 24 hours, then can start to collect the data.
Note: Periodically (usually two weeks) to check that the tensiometer is filled with cold boiled water. Do not loosen the tensiometer when you refill the water
4. Precautions:
1. The head should avoid oil pollution, so as not to block the micropores and make the tensiometer malfunction.
2. The measuring range of the tensiometer is -100 Kpa. When over the range, the tensiometer will be useless.
3. Slowly open the cover to avoid malfunction of the vacuum gauge.
4. When the temperature drops to the freezing point, the tensiometer buried outdoors should be withdrawn to avoid frost cracking.
